In what will likely be remembered as the year of television, 2020 has given audiences the ability to latch on to so many series they would otherwise not have been able to see. Quarantine has revived beloved series of yesterday in Avatar: The Last Airbender, dominated popular culture in Tiger King and Epstein: Filthy Rich, and dropped some of the most thought-provoking dramas in I May Destroy You.

This morning’s Emmy nominations, while not a complete encapsulation of the best in television to be released this last year, presents an array of compelling, often hilarious or moving, programs.
